Samari // Kyle Bourke // Fil Alexander @ Concrete Club

Hey yo! My friends Adelle & Anikin are a throwing a rad and freaky Electro night down at Concrete Club pretty soon in the 03 and it’ll be a party worth shakin’ down to.

In town for the party is Melbourne based Samari (luxxeparty.com), he plays tunes a cross section of tunes somewhere between Boys Noize, Mr. Oizo, the sounds of Baltimore, future funk and electro. Here’s one of his latest mixes: http://soundcloud.com/samari/samaris-sun-burn-mix

Kyle Bourke will be down from Auckland, he is the main producer/songwriter for the live DJ group Future Resonance and has remixed tunes from Kids of 88, Boh Runga, Kidz of Space and Elektrik Disko.

Another local lad will be crankin’ tunes as well, Fil Alexander. In 2009 he was signed to electro giant, Plasmapool Records, and his first release “New York Shit” received rave reviews on trackitdown.net. Be sure to catch this party peep! To hear his latest track visit: http://soundcloud.com/fil-alexander/fil-alexander-the-uplifter

So be sure to get down to The Concrete Club on Friday 19th of Feb. It’s only $5 on the door.

Peace,
Dr H

Tiger Tones, Pikachunes & Dr Hitchcock this Friday

Supa yall!

The flyer does all the taLK. TTTTT

Tiger Tones – one of the most signifigant bands in CHCH since Shocking Pinks is doing the pilgrimage to AK/NZ. Who can blame them, AK is a rad city. Pikachunes is also making the move too. Sadness all round :(
So anyways, this Friday at Double Happy is your second to last chance to see them jam before their mighty trek. I’ll also be spinning some tunes at the start of the night. Come on down and hang yo. It’s $10 on the door and tunes start at 10pm. To get you in the mood here is their latest single ’short thing’

Starlifter.TV Gig Guide and Mobile Device Optimisation (phew…)

Random photo taken in Fitzroy, Melbourne.

Man there’s been heaps happening on Starlifter.TV over the past 6 months. One of the parts of the website that has been just ticking over in the background is the Gig Guide, which can be found here: http://Starlifter.TV/gigguide. Every week I pick around 10 gigs throughout New Zealand (and sometimes around the world) that get the Starlifter.TV stamp of approval and stick them there. If you would like your gig or event considered for the Starlifter.TV Gig Guide upload it to Mukuna.co.nz if it’s in NZ or if it’s in another part of the world simply email it to: drh (at) starlifter.tv

And some even more exciting news is that as of yesterday I have optimised Starlifter.TV  for mobile devices. What this means is that when you visit Starlifter.TV on your iPhone, iPod Touch, mobile device or mobile phone, the page should load uber fast and not use up heaps of data. This is particularly helpful when you’re downtown wherever and looking for something to do, you can just plug Starlifter.TV/gigguide into your device and get the latest on what’s happening, CHOICE!

Photos – Mixtape Connection 2009

Hey you! Thanks so very much to everyone who came down and partied with us at Goodbye Blue Monday (GBM) on Saturday night. GBM was packed, the crowd was heaving and the Mixtape Crew laid down the most rockin’, floor stomping electro and retro pop around town. A huge thank-you to Indie Slut, Missy G, Apex Beat, and Goodbye Blue Monday for your choice moistness! There’s sure to be more parties in 2010 so keep your ear to the net yo!

Peace,
Dr H
