Two Door Cinema – I Can Talk

Two Door Cinema Club

Two Door Cinema Club

The latest tuneage from UK based Two Door Cinema Club is a lot more dancefloor party styles than the last track covered on Starlifter.TV. “I Can Talk” will keep you feet moving, your body grooving and the booze flowing. What I find most interesting about this song is the contrast between the lead singers soft and smooth vocals and the driving beat of the drums. This could be a dance-floor anthem for our Kiwi Summer 2010 Space Odessey.

This week on StarlifterRadio.com – new Cassius… YES!

Well StarlifterRadio.com is totally krunking and playing the baddest mean-styles this galaxy has ever heard. So if you haven’t tuned in yet, get to it yo! This week we have new songs from Cassius, Beni, Midnight Juggernauts, Two Door Cinema Club, Love of Diagrams, Von Klap and Sleepy Age. Classic tracks in the mix this week are tunes from Phoenix, Joy Division, and The Fastbacks. And if you haven’t heard the first songs released in the Digitape Singles Club you can hear them on StarlifterRadio.com as well, Side A is the Wundercastle remix of beautiful by Ghostape and Side B is the 1996 live recording of beatrice by Christchurch grunge/punk/rock band Flower.

So that’s what is going down on the old StarlifterRadio.com at the mo. I hope you do enjoy what’s on offer and if there is anything you’d like to hear or if you’d like to contribute just flick me a message drh (at) starlifter.tv

PS I just finished watching a new sci-fi called Mutant Chronicles… DON’T! Just don’t waste your time, even if you are a sci-fi fan. If I realised that it was a movie made about a computer game I wouldn’t have hired it.

Elston Gun to blast Christchurch “Peow! Peow!”

Holy smokes yo! Wellington outfit Elston Gun, who now features CHCH’s very own Tom from The Deceivers, are gonna be hitting The Bedford in Christchurch on Friday 23rd October! Elston Gun are a very slick rock’n'roll machine indeed and are inspired by the likes of the Queens of the Stone Age, The Kings of Leon, The Bronx, The Black Keys and of course the mighty Jimi Hendrix. Joining them from the garden city will be T54, Pikachunes, and myself, Dr Hitchcock.

T54 are a newish band on the CHCH scene and blew the punters away at the RDU RounD-Up band competition final, they didn’t win but heaps of cats thought they should’ve. And then there is Pikachunes aka Miles McDougall. This started as a solo project when Miles was laid up in bed after an unfortunate gaming accident (pika-pika), poor old Miles came off a little singed after going head-to-head with a raging flame-o-saurus. He also did quite well in RDU’s band comp winning the inaugural “Best Demo” compeition for his song “fire”. Oh yeah, I’m gonna be closing the night with a DJ Set of party rock’n'roll’n'what-not… any requests? Leave them below in the comments or tweet me baby @starliftertv ***
